There is no denying that there has been a rise in demand for old-school, kitted-out Land Rover Defenders, but Brooklyn Coachworks has been doing exactly this, to exacting standards, for over 20 years. Founded by Daniel Marcello, "Purpose Built" is the philosophy they follow when building their Defenders, with restorations using genuine Land Rover parts and accessories. Based in Brooklyn (and now Miami as well), they engineer the perfect Defenders with the right modifications for everyday off-road and on-road use, that also look absolutely incredible inside and out, in an amazing array of colors and interior finishes, with the latest gadgets and technology to boot.
BAR DO PORTO IN CORRUBEDO, SPAIN
Bar do Porto, once a bar known for its excellent tapas, sadly closed in Corrubedo, Spain in 1982. With its shutters closed, it was forgotten until 2020, when British Pritzker-Prize-winning architect Sir David Chipperfield, who was enamored with the area, took over the space, resurrecting it and bringing back the authentic essence of a simple Spanish village bar, with a friendly atmosphere and the soul of a traditional tavern, where locals and visitors come to relax and enjoy themselves. With Chipperfield at the helm of the design, and his wife Evelyn and daughter Celeste running the day to day and overseeing the cooking, it’s now a huge success and social center of the community. Think padrón peppers, the freshest seafood imaginable, empanadas and more, complemented by Galician wines and vermouths, Bar do Porto starts with breakfast and runs through the day until the early hours of the next morning. A must-visit.
